Ingredients:
Bulpeurum (root)
Cassia (bark)
English walnut (nut)
Chinese skullcap (root)

Actions: Breaks Blood stagnation and drains heat.

Indications: 1. Blood stagnation in the Lower Jiao with heat: Acute lower abdominal pain, constipation, irritability, restlessness, night fevers, and thirst Amenorrhea or dysmenorrhea, and in severe cases mania or delirium.
2. Blood stagnation with heat: Severe pain caused by traumatic injury, toothache, headache and red eyes, nosebleeds or coughing of blood, and constipation.

Directions: Take 3 pills 2 times a day. Do not use during pregnancy.

Notes: Circu and Balance Decoction is a prepared herbal formula of the ancient prescription, "Tao Hu Cheng Qi Tang" (Peach Pit Decoction to Order the Qi), from On Cold Disease Damage by Zhang Zhongjing. This formula is a fundamental component of treatment for blood disorder and heat stagnation. In modern clinic, it is commonly used for Irregular Menstruation; Dysmenorrhea; Amenorrhea; Acute Pelvic Inflammatory Disease; Retention of Lochia; Intestinal Obstruction; Delirious speech; Endometriosis; Endometritis; Irritability; Retained placenta; Thirst; Urinary incontinence; Acute mania (severe cases).

功能与主治：破血逐瘀，清热润燥。适用于伤寒外证不解，热结膀皖，少腹胀满，大便黑，小便自利，谵语烦渴，发热如狂，及血瘀经或产后恶露不下，少腹胀满疼痛或蓄血痢疾症。

服法与用量：口服，一次3粒，一日2次。

桃仁承气汤处方源于汉末张仲景所著的《伤寒论》，桃核承气汤，异名桃仁承气汤(《医方类聚》卷五十四引《伤寒括要》)。本方为治疗热结血瘀的基本方剂。本方不仅有去局部淤血，疏经血行障碍之效，且能袪除急结之坚块，风瘀热互结，血蓄下焦之实症体质病皆可使用。

本方使用范围甚广，凡妇产科疾患、泌尿器疾患、循环器疾患、新陈代谢疾患、神经精神疾患、外科皮肤科疾患、眼科口腔科疾患、及各种出血等，均有使用机会。用舍至为广泛（脑血栓，脑梗塞，降血脂，降血糖，肾功能衰竭，出血热少尿期，输尿管结石，肝性血卟啉病，肝硬化，精神分裂症，）且具有疗效。

研究表明桃核承气汤可促进细胞分泌内源性胰岛素、抑制胰及胰外组织分泌高血糖素，对胰岛素内分泌细胞有一定修复功能，并增加胰岛β细胞的分泌颗粒。刺激肝糖原的合成，抑制肝糖元的分解。有人以本方加味治疗Ⅱ型糖尿病，其效优于优降糖，但无优降糖的毒副作用。
