The story is based on the modern Chinese novel Red Rock. Hua Zi Liang is a new
revolutionary play of modern style Chinese opera. Wang Pin, a famous civil and
military personated old man role of Beijing Opera, acts as Hua Zi Liang. The
plot is dramatic and felicitous, a heart touching story by heart touched arias.
When People's Republic of China was established in October, 1949, Chongqing city
had been still covered in mist. Just like those revolutionists who were
jailed in White House were all facing an unclear future. The enemy began a
killing plan. Since Sister Jiang and Shu Yunfon were killed one by one, the
connection to the jailed revolutionists for escape plan was disconnected. In the
critical moment, Huan Ziliang, a loyal
communist, pretends as an idiot, and endures all insults in order to
fulfill the jailbreak plan of the underground communist party in Chongqing. Finally,
the jailed revolutionists successfully breakout through Hua Ziliang's resourceful
struggle.
Modern Beijing Opera Play Hua Ziliang was selected as the Distillation
of the Stage Art sponsored by the Ministry of Culture of PRC and the Ministry
of Finance of PRC.
