Ingredients:
Dong quai (root)
Codonopsis (root)
Chinese mugwort (leaf)
Ligusticum wallchii (rhizome)
English walnut (nut)
Cattail (pollen)
Chinese licorice (root)
Ginger (fresh rhizome)

Actions: To remove stagnant blood and promote hemogenesis; To relieve pain by warming the channels and collaterals.

Main indications: For a person with retention of lochia, and pain in the lower abdomen after childbirth, manifested as dark purplish color of blood, lower abdomen hard and cold and painful, refused to be pressed.*

Directions: Take 3 pills each time, 2 times a day.
Caution: Do not use during pregnancy.

Notes: New Mother's Decoction is a prepared formula of the ancient prescription "Sheng Hua Tang" (Generation and Transformation Decoction) originally appeared in Women's Diseases According to Fu Qing Zhu (Fu Qing Zhu Nu Ke). This herbal formula is the necessity of postpartum care to restore blood flow. After giving birth, there will be some pain or ache in the lower abdomen and the lower back. There will be some discharge of blood and dead tissue and mucus. This is normal. If it is not excessive, then it is not necessary to use. It is helpful to post-abortal syndrome.

加味生化汤处方源于《傅青主女科·产后编》卷上。本方就被视为中国传统的产后必备药方。由於药简而效捷，素有产後第一方之誉。服用生化汤的意义在於促进子宫收缩，使恶露排出，避免血栓形成，适用於产後恶露未尽；或自然、人工流产後残存胎膜所引起之腹痛及异常出血等症。

临床应用加味生化汤预防药流后蜕膜残留疗效较好。治疗治疗药物流产后恶露不止、阴道出血。
