This performance is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of China Peking Opera Theatre.

The story of Beijing Opera Peach Blossom Village was adapted from the famous classic novel Water Margin, that described that an army of Liangshan bandit led by Song Jiang rebelled against the corrupted government at the end of the North Song Dynasty.

Lady Yuyan is the daughter of an esquire named Liu Deming in the Peach Blossom Village. One day, When Yuyan went to Huatian Pageant for spring outing with her maid Chunlan, she met a young scholar Bian Ji, and they fell in love with each other at the first sight.
Returning home, Yuyan tells her father that she has found her husband-to-be. Esquire Liu was so glad to hear that, and sent the old servant Liu Rong to invite Mr. Bian to his house. But Mr. Bian was not in at it happened. Liu Rong led the castellan of Mount Peach Blossom Zhou Tong to the Liu's house in mistake. When Esquire Liu found this mistake, he tried to persuade Zhou Tong to leave as best he could. But Zhou Tong did not, and wanted to marry Yuyan at night over shoes over boots.
When Yuyan knew the incident, she cried her heart out. At this moment, Chunlan found a way. She asked Mr. Bian to put woman's clothes and guided him to Yuyan’s boudoir. In the meantime, Zhou Tong came and grabbed the bride, and took Mr. Bian to his mountain fastness. Late he found the mistake and rushed to the Lius to grab Yuyan again.
Mr. Bian was released. On the way to home, he met Lu Zhishen, who was a hero from Liangshan. When Lu Zhishen was told all the affair in detail, he pitied the couple of lovers. Therewith, Lu Zhishen went to the Lius and waited for Zhou Tong coming. He hided himself in Yuyan’s boudoir. When Zhou Tong came in, he was smitten hip and thigh by Lu Zhishen and escaped confoundedly. Zhou Tong invited his blood brother Li Zhong to avenge him. When Li Zhong met Lu Zhishen, they recognized each other as old bucks. Lu Zhishen told Li Zhong the whole affair. They helped Yuyan and Bian Ji to fulfill their marriage through the intercession of Lu Zhishen.

剧情介绍
桃花村员外刘德明之女玉燕偕同丫环春兰赴花田盛会游春选婿，遇书生卞玑，二人一见倾心。玉燕禀告父，刘员外差老仆人刘荣请卞生。恰值卞生不在，而错把桃花山寨主周通请来，刘员外百般劝解周通不允并要当晚花轿迎娶。玉燕知道事情有变，痛不欲生，春兰使卞生男扮女装约至绣缕，此时周通前来抢亲，误把卞生抢走，回至山寨方知抢错，便又带人去刘家抢亲。卞生被释，路遇鲁智深，说明原委，智深为同情，亲往刘家，得知周通必来，乃藏于洞房，周通入洞房被鲁痛打，狼狈而逃。周通邀请盟兄李忠下山复仇，遇鲁智深，旧友相逢说明原委，经鲁调解，成全了卞生与玉燕的婚姻。
