The selected famous arias sung by Li Duokui who contributed a lot to the art of laodan (an old female role in traditional Chinese opera).

Li Duokui (1898-1974), a native of Beijing. He first learned lao sheng and later turned to lao dan. In his early years he was once under training of Lu Yanting, accompanist for Gong Yunfu. Later he acknowledged Luo Fushan, a lao dan actor of the Sixi Troupe as his master; meantime, he also got instruction from Gong Yunfu. He inherited the strong points of the Gong style and developed them according to his own conditions. His unique performing art was recognized as the Li style. His voice was wide-ranged, crisp and bright; his singing was vigorous and forceful with clear enunciation and smooth tunes. He was most celebrated for his singing, which has been followed by many lao dan players after him. He was an influential actor in the lao dan role of Beijing opera in his time. His repertoire included the Tower for Watching Her Son, Mother Grieving for Her Son's Death, a Golden Turtle Caught in Fishing, Beating the Royal Robe and Town of Chi Sang.

李多奎（1898-1974），著名京剧表演艺术家。原名玉奎，北京人。幼年坐科，习老生。曾以《打金枝》等戏唱大轴。二十年代初，改演老旦，拜罗福山、谢宝云、龚云甫为师。李多奎兼取三家之长，结合自己的条件注意韵味，古朴大方，苍秀挺拔，韵味醇厚，创立了老旦新腔，世称"李派"。

1929年随程砚秋到上海演出《钓金龟》等，深得观众好评。后与高庆奎、金少山等合作，经常演出于京、沪各地。他嗓音宏亮，气力充沛，高低音俱佳，行腔婉转流利，以唱见长。擅演剧目有：《遇皇后》、《打龙袍》、《太君辞朝》、《行路哭灵》等。

李多奎成为龚云甫之后我国京剧艺术界影响最大、最深远的老旦名家，也是京剧表演艺术队伍中一位承前启后、精益求精的艺术大师。 除精心创作演出一批优秀京剧剧目之外，还培养了大批的艺术后人，如李盛泉、李金泉、王玉敏、李鸣岩、王梦云、王晓临等等。
