Zhang Junqiu (1920 -1997) was a renown Peking Opera artist. He is a famous Qing Yi role actor. His style is recognized as Zhang school of Beijing opera. He was honored the number one of the Four Junior Great Female Role Players. Zhang is remembered for his excellent performance and his efforts made in inheriting and developing the quintessence of traditional Chinese opera.

Zhang Junqiu began learning drama at the age of 13 and his debut at the age of 15. He has prevented some Peking Opera plays from being lost by performing 120 items in various schools. He also trained a group of youngsters for the art as well. Zhang traveled to Hong Kong and Macao to perform in 1963. He had been professor and vice president of China Traditional Opera Institute since 1979. Zhang Junqiu won the Lifelong Artistic Achievement Prize awarded by the Sino-US Art Association in US and New York Lincoln Art Center in 1990.

His voice was sweet. loud and clear, and his appearance graceful and handsome. He had a repertoire of Riverside Pavilion, the Orphan of Zhao Family, the West Chamber, Leifeng Tower, Lady Qin Xianglian, Meeting by Poem, the Story of Su San, and so on.

His elder son, Zhang Xuejin, is a famous Laosheng (elderly male role) in Pekinig Opera.

张君秋（1920-1997），北京人，京剧表演艺术家，四小名旦之一，旦角张派创始人。自幼从师李凌枫学戏，后又拜尚小云、梅兰芳为师。他学习前人不拘形似，追求神似。他的唱腔，兼容梅、尚、程、荀之腔，结合自己嗓音明亮、甜润、高中低音运用自如的优越条件，另辟蹊径。经过他的润色修饰，其唱腔有一种刚健清新的美感，形成他独特的艺术风格。他在《西厢记》中饰崔莺莺、《望江亭》中饰谭记儿、《赵氏孤儿》中饰庄姬、《状元媒》中饰柴郡主、《秦香莲》中饰秦香莲，这些角色的唱腔，均成为张派的艺术精品。
