Eyesight Tonic is a specially-designed nutritional and herbal supplement. It contains a powerful balanced blend of antioxidants and photo-protective ingredients and herbal extracts that provide nutrients to protect the eyes against many primary degenerative conditions.

Natural and artificial lights impact our eye tissue and its function. INGREDIENT EXPLANATION:

Lutein Esters (Extracted from Marigold flower) - Lutein and Zeaxanthin are two exciting carotenoids that have been shown to exert positive benefits for the eyes. Lutein is an antioxidant which is specifically deposited in the macula region and the lens of the eye. Studies have clearly demonstrated that the risk of age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of adult blindness, is influenced greatly by the amount of lutein that is consumed. Lutein and zeaxanthin accumulate in the retina and filter out certain rays of light which may damage it leaving both the retina and the macula much less vulnerable to the degeneration that leads to AMD. Both of these carotenoids form the yellow pigment in the macula, the central area of the retina. These nutrients are found in green, leafy vegetables such as spinach and collard greens and especially the marigold flower. Again, it is important to emphasize that increased dietary intakes of lutein and zeaxanthin are strongly associated with a decrease in risk of AMD. A study of 1354 people found that persons in the highest lutein intake were only half as likely to develop cataracts as those who have low lutein consumption. Lutein may also help to prevent the free-radical onslaught associated with sun exposure that can lead to skin cancers.

Beta-carotene is converted into Vitamin A in our body and can be extracted from various plants and animals. Beta Carotene functions to prevent night blindness and sight deterioration, enhances the activity of the immune system, etc.
Alpha-carotene is a source of the essential nutrient Vitamin A; its cancer-fighting ability exceeds beta-carotene.
Cryptoxanthin -High levels of Cryptoxanthin carotenoid were associated with a significant reduction in cervical cancer risk among 15,161 women monitored over a 15 year period.
Lycopene is a potent antioxidant and the most abundant carotenoid found in the prostate.
Zeaxathin, together with Lutein, is one of the two dominant carotenoids found in the macula of the eyes, an antioxidant which may be important in maintaining healthy vision as we age.

Vitamin C - It possesses many benefits, and one of them is essential for the maintenance of collagen and capillary blood vessels in the eyes.
Vitamin E - It is well known for its antioxidant activity, one of which is the protection of the eye tissue.

Bilberry Extract with 25% Anthocyanoside - It has been demonstrated to help maintain healthy eyesight and prevent deterioration of the eyes. The active constituent in bilberry is Anthocyanosides which are potent antioxidants that assist the natural formation of collagen in connective tissue and help to strengthen capillaries in the eyes. Studies have also shown that bilberry speeds up the regeneration of rhodopsin, a purple pigment critical for night vision and adaptation to changes in the light.

Chrysanthemum Extract (Ju Hua) - In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the eyes are the ?yen;apertures?| of the Liver, and clearing Liver Heat can brighten the eyes. The white chrysanthemum flower extract is known in Traditional Chinese Herbology to dispel Wind; clear Heat; release Toxins; brighten the eyes; pacify Liver Fire.

Cassia Seed Extract (Jue Ming Zi) - It clears Heat in the Liver; brighten the eyes; dispels Wind; clears Heat. It cools the upflaring of Liver Fire or the invasion of exogenous Wind and Heat that manifest as red, swollen and painful eyes.

Quercetin - It is the most-researched flavonoid molecule with the greatest potential for therapeutic use. Quercetin is a strong antioxidant with many functions attributed to its antioxidant activity; It also blocks histamine synthesis. Cataract formation is due partially to the conversion of glucose to sorbitol which is catalyzed by aldose reductase, and quercetin inhibits aldose reductase.

N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine - NAC (N-acetyl L-cysteine) is believed to assist in the production of detoxification enzymes and help prevent the oxidation of sensitive tissue which may delay aging. It increases tissue level of glutathione, a key component of the antioxidant defense system. It also has the ability to chelate heavy metals.

Grape Seed Extract with 95% Proantho-cyanidins - It contains strong antioxidant substance such as proanthocyanidin which can decrease the damage of skin and eye cells from the sunlight and free radicals. It is also an extremely powerful antioxidant rated 50 times stronger than Vitamin E and 20 times stronger than Vitamin C. It reduces capillary fragility and improves circulation.

Ginkgo Biloba - Ginkgo biloba offers nutritional support to the vascular system by sustaining the strength and elasticity of blood vessels and capillaries. In addition, ginkgo inhibits platelet aggregation and acts as a free radical scavenger. Our Gingko extract is standardized to contain 24% ginkgoheterosides and 6% terpene lactones.

L-Taurine - High concentration of L-taurine is found in the heart muscle, eyes and central nervous system. In animal study, a deficiency of Taurine in cats will cause Central Retinal Degeneration (eye lesions) resulting in total blindness within two years if the deficiency is not remedied.

Copper - Copper is provided in the formula to maintain the proper zinc-copper ratio in the body. Copper is a constituent in the enzyme SOD, so vital in the overall promotion and maintenance of eye health.

Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin) is water-soluble, easily-absorbed and digested. It will not accumulate in the body, thus it needs regular supplementation. Besides its normal function to the body, it enhances eyesight, decreases eye-fatigue.
