Liu Jiang, born in 1926, native of Wan County, Sichuan Province, calligrapher, seal engraver, is seen as a giant in the Chinese calligraphy field. He is a professor of the China Academy of Fine Arts, vice president of Xiling Seal Engravers' Society. He is excelled in study of oracle characters, inscriptions on bronze, ancient imperial, official and private seals. 刘江（1926—）四川万县人。原名佛庵，号湖岸、知非，汉族。1926年7月生。幼年即喜好书画，承家学，1945年中师毕业后，考入重庆国立艺术专科学校预科习绘画，得校长潘天寿教授书法、篆刻，两年后升入本科油画系学习。现为中国美术学院教授，中国书法家协会理事、书法教育委员会副主任委员，（曾任理事、常务理事、创作评审委员会委员、篆刻艺术委员会委员），中国书法教育研究会副理事长，浙江书法教育研究会理事长、西泠印社副社长等。

篆刻师诸乐三、法吴昌硕，后追探古玺、印之神韵，尝以卜文、韩金文入印，偶参九叠文笔意，并熔封泥、陶范于一炉，在浑穆中求灵动，朴拙中寓雄秀。出版有《刘江篆刻选》、《刘江篆书唐诗百首》等六种。创作之余，重视书法篆刻理论，撰有《论甲骨文书法》、《略论唐宋元官私印》、《论气》、《吴昌硕艺术精神》等论文四十余篇，发表在国内以及日本、韩国、台、港等地区。有《中国印章艺术史》等十余种专著面世，其中《篆刻技法》、《篆刻形式美》等四种已被译成日、韩等国文字出版。作品入选全国第一、二、三、四、五届书法篆刻展。
