Actions: Descends rebellious Lung Qi to arrest wheezing and stop cough; Warms and Transforms Phlegm-Cold.
Indications: Wheezing, coughing with copious and watery sputum, dyspnea, shortness of breath with easy exhalation and difficult inhalation, a feeling of fullness or oppression in the chest, edema of the extremities, fatigue, possible weakness, aching, or pain in the lower back, legs, or knees.*
Directions: Take 8 pills each time, 3 times a day.
Notes: This formula is a modern preparation of the ancient prescription Su Zi Jiang Qi Tang (Perilla Fruit Decoction for Directing Qi Downward) in TCM, originally appeared in Imperial Grace Formulary of the Tai Ping Era (Tai Ping Hui Min He Ji Ju Fang). In modern clinic, it is applicable to Bronchial Asthma; Chronic Bronchitis; Pulmonary Emphysema.

主要成分：紫苏子（炒），厚朴，前胡，甘草，姜半夏，陈皮，沉香，当归。
功能与主治：降气化痰，温肾纳气，镇咳平喘。用于上实下虚之咳喘，痰涎壅盛，痰多色白，咳嗽喘促，气短胸闷，动则加剧。
服法与用量：口服，一次8丸，一日 3次。阴虚燥咳者忌服，其表现为干咳少痰、咽干咽痛、口干舌燥。
苏子降气丸出自宋·《太平惠民和剂局方》苏子降气汤。苏子降气汤为下虚上盛、痰嗽喘逆之证而设。所谓“下虚”指肾阳不足，虚阳上越，不能纳气归元，症见呼多吸少；所谓“上盛”，指肺中痰涎壅积，气逆不降，症见胸膈满闷，喘嗽痰多。本方为治疗肾阳素虚、痰多喘嗽的有效方剂。现代用治慢性支气管炎、支气管哮喘、肺气肿、肺源性心脏病等有上述表现者。
