Sun Qifeng was born in Zhao Yuan County, Shangdong Province, China, 1920. He
graduated from Beijing National Art College and studied painting from Xu Beihong,
Huang Binghong, Li Kuchan, Wang Youshi, and Wang Shensheng. His specialism is in
flowers and bird painting, mountains-and-waters painting.
As a prominent painter of flower-and-bird, Sun Qifeng masterfully blends
Gongbi (meticulous brushwork) and Xieyi (impressionistic) styles to achieve a
unique effect. Although he adheres closely to traditional forms, his artistic
representation is indisputably original, elegant and often lyrical. His most
representative early works are the While Eagle, Bamboo and Ancient Cypress. Sun
Qifeng served as Vice-President of Tianjin Academy of Fine Arts, and Chairman of
its Department of Chinese Painting.

别署双槐楼主，男，汉族。1920年生于山东招远县。早年毕业于国立北平艺术专科学校国画科。曾先后从师于徐悲鸿、黄宾虹、李苦禅、王友石、汪慎生等名家，擅山水、花鸟画、书法、篆刻，兼善画史画论，曾任天津美术学院副院长、中国书协理事、中国美协理事、天津美术学院教授、美协天津分会名誉主席、天津市海河印社社长、北京中国画研究院院委、西冷印社理事等职。出版《中国画技法第一辑》、《孙其峰画集》、《花鸟画谱》、《孔雀画谱》、《花鸟画构图小稿》、《花鸟画技法》。
