This is a patent herbal remedy based on the ancient recipe Chai Hu Shu Gan San (Bupleurum Powder for Relieving Liver Qi) in TCM originally appeared in JingYue Quan Shu (Complete Works of Zhang Jingyue), which is primarily used to disperse stagnated liver-qi, activate the flow of qi, relieve distension and pain, for syndrome of stagnancy of liver-qi, marked by distension of chest and hypochondria, indigestion, and acid eructation.

Actions: Spreading the circulation of the liver qi, promoting blood flow and alleviating pain.
Indications: It is indicated for syndrome of stagnant qi and blood in the liver, manifested as sadness and depression, distention and pain in the hypochondriac region, distended abdomen, alternating fever and chills, sensation of fullness in the chest, indigestion, belching and sighing, constipation, premenstrual syndrome, menstrual cramps, purplish red tongue, thin and whitish fur, taut and uneven pulse. It is applicable to chronic hepatitis, cholecystitis, chronic gastritis, gastroduodenal ulcer, gastric neurosis, hyperplasia of mammary glands, etc., which pertain to stagnation of the liver qi with hypochondriac pain.*
