posticon Which Bible

Well I will start this one for You Bro. Gary.

Which Bible Translation Do You Use?
Now for the tough question, WHY?

I Prefer the King James version because it is the most accurate I think.
However I do use The New King James, New International Version, The Living Bible, and The Message to help me understand the Scriptures better. I also use at least 3 different commentaries as well as the books and articles of several well known Ministers including Billy Graham, Max Lucado, and Rick Warren along with various other Christian Writers.
However when in doubt I always go back to KJV and prayer to help me understand.
But Don't Forget The Prayer Part It is Always Helpful To Pray For Understanding First Then Try To Understand!!!

Now how about the rest of you out there what do you use and why?

May Our Most Heavenly Father Pour Out His Blessings On You!!!! AMEN!! emoticon

Re: Which Bible

I use a few different versions myself. When studying I read from the NIV, the NKJV, and the NASB. For my daily reading I usually read from the NIV, mostly because it is the bible I started with, and can seem to comprehend the most.
Sometimes I read the Message or NCV, but I don't really care much for either of those translations.

KJV is number 1, but NIV and NKJ make it much easier to understand some things

Well I' right there with ya'll, I love reading the King James, but I need help with understanding it so I use the NIV for that. I also have "The message" which it the new testament in street lingo. I don't use it much, because in one scripture I read it refered to God as Papa, but it is kinda fun to read.

Re: Which Bible

I love the beauty of the language in the King James. But I don't always find the clarity I seek, so I've used a few other versions and have compared the verses side by side.

Really an eye opening experience to see the variations, in meaning, generally subtle, but, giving one room for deeper thought, and understanding.

In an Old Testament class we were able to look at a variety of English language translations of the 23rd psalm, that occurred over 500 years. Absolutely fascinating.

I've also enjoyed reading the Bible in Spanish or German and find new meaning through that practice as well.
