"Generals of the Yang Family" was a very powerful force of the Emperor in Chinese Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127). The story is about Yang Si Lang, the fourth son of the family. Since he was captured by the northern Liao People, he named himself with a Liao style Last name for escaping. Then he was married to a Liao princess named Tie Jing. It was fifteen years later, military of the Yang family go north to attack Liao People again. Yang Si Lang wanted to meet them when he heard that his old mother had come to the frontier this time. Since there were battles between the Song and Liao militaries, he asked Princess Tie Jing to help him for taking an order board from her mother. Then Mr. Yang went through the Liao pass successfully and proceeded at very high speed to Song camps. He was captured out of the camps by his nephew and brought to his whole family later. Mr. Yang Si Lang called on his mother in the frontier fifteen years later, finally. Everybody here was crying with surprises and sorrows. Yang Si Lang then hurried back to Liao at dawn after a brief reunion. Liao military captured him in his way home. The Princess's mother saw through his being one of "Generals of the Yang Family" and ordered to behead him. The Princess Tie Jing begged to her mother for saving him. Mr. Yang Si Lang finally escaped from death in the hard-tries of his wife.

Li Hezeng (1921-), a native of Beijing. In his childhood he entered Zhonghua Traditional Opera Training School to learn lao sheng, and was taught by Gao Qingkui. After graduation he was well known across the country for his competence of performing the Cao style. In 1960 he took Zhou Xinfang as his tutor to learn the Qi style. His repertoire has included Crying over Qin Court, Stabbing Emperor's Robe, the Meeting of Heroes, Zhu Xian Town, Removal of Three Evildoers, General and Minister Are Reconciled, etc.

Wu Suqiu (1922-), a native of Penglai County, Shandong Province. When she was a child , she started learning acrobatics of Beijing opera. Later on, she learned qingyi and hua dan from Chen Shenglan. In 1932, she entered China Traditional Opera School for professional training. There she learned from Wang Yaoqing and afterwards she took Shang Xiaoyun and Xun Huisheng as her teachers. When she was 13 years old, she co-performed with Jin Shaoshan in the King's Parting with His Favorite and was highly praised. The operas she often performed included the Peacock Flies Southeast, Huo Xiaoyu, the Red Maid, Sister Thirteen, etc. She was well-known for her exquisite acting and smooth singing. After the founding of new China, she was head of the Fourth Beijing Opera Troupe of Beijing and staged a number of newly-written plays, such as Yi Pa Er Han, Little Sister Su, the Precious Lotus Lantern, etc. Since the 1980s, she has been engaged in research and training work.
