Ingredients:
Dang Shen (Radix Codonopsis): 44.45%
Mai Dong (Radix Ophiopogonis): 33.33%
Wu Wei Zi (Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis): 22.22%

Actions: Tonifies Qi, stops excess sweating, and alleviates fatigue; nourishes Yin and Fluids and moistens dryness.

Indications: Use for chronic cough with scanty sputum that is difficult to expectorate, spontaneous sweating, shortness of breath, and a dry tongue and mouth. It is useful to palpitations, insomnia, and fatigue.*

Directions: Take 8 pills each time, 3 times a day.

Notes: This formula is a modification of the ancient prescription Sheng Mai San (Generate the Pulse Powder) in TCM, originally appeared in Clarifying Doubts About Injury from Internal and External Causes (Nei Wai Shang Bian Huo Lun). It is a tonifying formula to replenish the qi, restore the normal pulse, nourish yin and produce fluids. Use for symptoms including cardiac palpitation, shortness of breath, scarcely perceptible pulse and spontaneous sweating due to deficiency of qi and yin. In modern clinic, it is applicable to Chronic Bronchitis; Pulmonary Tuberculosis; Supraventricular Arrhythmias; Rheumatic Heart Disease; Angina Pectoris; Coronary Artery Disease; Post-Bypass Debility.

服法与用量：口服，一次8丸，一日 3次。

生脉散出自李东垣《内外伤群感论》。考其源，历代医家皆认为，此方脱胎于《伤寒杂病论》之复脉汤（炙甘草汤）。生脉散由人参、麦冬、五味子组成。方中参、麦冬补心气，益心液，五味子敛气生津，故为补益心脏气液之方。

药理研究表明，生脉饮具有增加冠脉血流量，增强心肌收缩力，提高心肌对缺血缺氧的耐受性，降低耗氧量的作用。用于防治冠心病及年老体弱、心悸气短、头晕乏力、脉微虚汗等症。

本方现代常用于治疗流行性出血热休克，病态窦房结综合征，病毒性心肌炎，心律失常，克山病，低血压，缺铁性贫血，肺心病，心源性哮喘，糖尿病，急性心肌梗死，冠心病心绞痛，心源性休克，充血性心力衰竭等属气阴两虚者。
