Ingredients: Chinese peony (root), Cassia (bark), Jujube (fruit), Ginger (fresh rhizome), Chinese licorice (root), maltose.

Actions: To warm the middle energizer, replenish the deficient, and regulate the stomach.

Main indications: Use for diarrhea due to consumptive deficiency, abdominal pain which could be alleviated by warmth and pressure, manifesting a pale tongue with white coating, thin and wiry pulse. Also used for consumptive diseases manifesting palpitation, restlessness, pallor, warm feeling in palms and feet, dry mouth and throat.*

Directions: take 8 pills once time, 3 times a day.

Notes: A classical prescription originally appeared in Treatise on Febrile (Shang Han Lun),  Xiao Jian Zhong Tang, translated as Minor Construct the Middle Decoction, commonly used by doctors in China for cases of deficiency-cold of middle energizer and disharmony of liver and spleen, such as stomach or duodenal ulcer, chronic hepatitis, and chronic stomach disorder.

功能与主治： 温中补虚，和里缓急。适用于中焦虚寒，肝脾不和症：腹中拘急疼痛，喜温喜按，神疲乏力，虚怯少气；或心中悸动，虚烦不宁，面色无华；或伴四肢酸楚，手足烦热，咽干口燥。舌淡苔白，脉细弦。

服法与用量：每日3次，每次8粒，用温水送服。

小建中汤出自《伤寒论》。本方既是温中补虚，缓急止痛之剂；又为调和阴阳，柔肝理牌之常用方。临床应用以腹中拘急疼痛，喜温喜按，舌淡，脉细弦为辨证要点。现代临床化裁用于治疗胃及十二指肠溃疡、慢性肝炎、神经衰弱、再生障碍性贫血（再障）、功能性发热属于中气虚寒，阴阳气血失调者。
