Synopsis
This play is adapted from the Erhu solo Moon Reflected on Er-quan Spring by Mr. Hua Yanjun. This play is about the tragic love story between a Chinese folk artist called Brother Quan, and an old violinist’s daughter called Yue’er: Brother Quan ardently falls love with Yue’er but is supplanted by the vicious Gu family, Yue’er sinks into the bottom of the lake, bereft of love, Brother Quan is so desperate that he blind his eyes...
The ballet Moon Reflected in Two Spring (Er Quan Ying Yue in Chinese), composed by a gifted street musician called Hua Yan Jun (or A'bing, as the native people always called him) who wrote more than 300 works during his lifetime, is considered one of the foremost and treasured ballet productions in China. Ever since its inception, it has received tremendous and continuous applauds both from the audience and experts, and has been considered as a major break through of indigenous ballet.
