Liu Jiying, renown contemporary female artist, was born in Beijing, China, in 1921. When she learnt painting, she studied under Chinese artist Pu Ru and famous flower and bird painter Wang Xuetao. She is specialized in flower and bird drawing. Her peony drawing is extraordinary. Her masterpieces are collected in the art museums and galleries of China and oversea. She is a researcher of Chinese Central Culture and History Institute.

《刘继瑛画牡丹技法》共90分钟，由刘继瑛女士亲自讲授， 分牡丹画法介绍、技法讲座，作品欣赏三项内容，其中技法讲座部分详细介绍牡丹的具体画法和步骤，是广大美术爱好者特别是花鸟爱好者珍贵的教材，也是各专业单位研究画家的珍贵资料。本片制作精美，在电视台演播厅精心拍摄而成。
