Story Synopsis
A Beijing opera play tells that a young man excels in the highest-level imperial exams and holds the hand of the emperor's sister in the Song Dynasty. But he has a secret: he's already married to the country woman Qin Xianglian, and they are the parents of a boy and a girl! When news of their existence threatens his new imperial position, he decides that the best solution to his problem would be a little murder. The dispatched guard for the mission of murder commits suicide when he knows the Qin's misery. Qin sues her husband before Judge Bao, China's most famous detective. Will Judge Bao, a stern but fair dispenser of justice and upholder of the common man, be able to set things right under the pressure of queen mother and emperor's sister?
