Shaolin Dahong Boxing -Required Form in Shaolin Boxing
Dahong Boxing is a representative form in Shaolin boxing. It is a required course for any freshman at Shaolin Temple. This form is famous for compact structure, distinct attacking and defending, and moderate raising and falling. It boasts of unexpected tricky moves, and is therefore regarded as distillation in Chinese Wushu.
Da Hong Quan (Large-frame Red Boxing) is developed from the basic of Xiao Hong Quan (Small-frame Red Boxing). Its posture is a little bigger than Xiao Hong Quan. Its foot forms are more than the Xiao Hong Quan. Its technique is more complete than the Xiao Hong Quan. So it is called Da Hong Quan. In the latter period of Qing Dynastic, the Buddhists that practiced Wushu in Shaolin Temple traveled throughout the country and passed Da Hong Quan to the folk.
