Dou Erdun, a Robin-Hood-style hero of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), went to the border region outside the Great Wall to join the outlaws at Lianhuantao, made a decision of revenge on Huang Santai, who had injured him with a dart in a duel. Fifteen years later, the news comes that the ninth Duke Liang is going to the border region to hunt and will ride a horse bestowed by the emperor. Dou Erdun thinks that the time for revenge has come. He sneaks into Liang's camp and steals the horse, leaving Huang Santai's name there. Liang knows Huang dead but suspects of Huang's son, Huang Tianba, related. Huang Tianba is sent to search for the suspect who has stolen the emperor's horse and blamed it on his father. He finds out it is Dou Erdun. He decides to challenge Dou to a martial arts contest and manages to capture Dou and get the horse back.
